Give us the older versions, 2.3 is devil incarnate

Ok. I have 2.3.2 and I just upgraded. Great, I thought, this is going to at least three times as good as my older version (2.?). Well boy was I in for a surprise. Don't be fooled by its smooth features. LimeWire 2.3.2 is the spawn of the devil. It has a mind all by itself. If it doesn't like your download, then it deletes it. 2.3 happens to like NO download, so it takes the liberty of deleting every file you attempt to download. It sux!

I have searched in vain for an earlier version of LimeWire but to no avail. Could someone on the LimeWire staff please repost the earlier versions, so that I may continue to use LimeWire. I really like it, and it use to work great. But you guys are progressing in the wrong direction. Either post the older versions (or say where you can find them) or fix the problem at hand. I am not the only person who is experiencing such grief.

Thank you for your time

Does this happen with the current CVS as well?

Does these file deletions also happen with the current CVS as found in the build at:

http://baghira.han.de/~jum/LimeWire%...4%20OS%20X.dmg

I happen to run my own builds from CVS for a while now and have not seen that problem.

Tried it

I was quite excited about your link. After I downloaded it, I gave it a whirl. It did the same thing as LimeWire. The download would appear in incomplete, then disappear then reappear. I thought then that it might store it- nope! Sorry to say that it is just as bad as LimeWire 2.3 is. I just want the older version 2.2 or whatever and I'll be happy. Unless LimeWire gets its act together and makes a better version that doesn't delete files.

Thanks

Re: Tried it

Hmm, that is strange. LimeWire is not supposed to delete things from the Incomplete folder unless it believes the download is older than the number of days to keep downloads. You should check the number of days to keep in the Preferences/Save panel, this should be something reasonable.

You do realize that LimeWire has NEVER removed a version from their servers... http://www9.limewire.com:82/download/
