Default Where is the Lime slice

Why on the updated version 2.4, is the Lime slice gone and a pixelated plug showing on the dock instead?

Lightbulb I FOUND A SOLUTION!

Well, I actually made the solution.

I made a screenshot of the lime slice on this forum and used GraphicConverter to fix it up and make it transparent. I made it a TIFF file.

I tried to change the program icon by using copy and paste with "Get Info." But if didn't work. I guess LimeWire put a block on that.

But I hacked into the program.

Follow this steps:

Download the icon here. Just Control-Click:

http://home.earthlink.net/~jnrz0/LaunchAnywhere.icns

Then open your LimeWire folder, Control-Click the Limewire program.

Select "Show Package Content"

Open "Contents" folder, then "Resources" folder

Drag the file you just downloading into this folder.

It will say that you already have a file named this and if you wish to replace it. Say yes.

Now, log out of OS X and log back in. You should now have the icon.

Geez. All this for a freakin' icon!!?? Thanx LimeWire for all the work!

Default ugly icon

that seems like a lot of work, especially since this was supposed to be an OSX "update." Now it looks like a Classic icon! isn't there an easier fix...

Unhappy

I don't know of an easier fix.

I just realized something.

The lime slice isn't transparent like it was supposed to be in the dock and there is a white box around it. Pretty ugly for the Dock, but it looks nice in the folder. Sorry.

HEY LIMEWIRE, PLEASE MAKE THE LIME SLICE ICON AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD PLEASE, OK?

Smile Got it!

Using your idea, I found out how to actually get the original slice back.

I figured it out. Follow these instructions and you will have your slice back...

First start up your latest version of Limewire. Then select programs to search for the "Limewire Pro 2.3.4 OS X" program.

After you download this program from the network, save it to your desktop. Then double click the new icon for 2.4.3 and the disc should mount automatically.

Next, double click the new icon recently mounted to your desktop. You will see the folder for Limewire. Double click this folder and look for the slice inside. Control click the slice and select "Show Package Content". Then open "Contents" folder, and then "Recources" folder.

Fiinally you will see the "LimeWire.icns" file. Drag this out of the folder and on to your desktop. Close out of all folders and open a new finder window.

Find your Limewire file in your applications folder and open it. Comntrol click the Limewire program. Select "Show Package Content". Then open "Contents" folder, and then "Resources" folder. Now trash the file "LaunchAnywhere.icns". Next drag your new file "LimeWire.icns" from the desktop and into this "Resources" folder. Finally, rename the "LimeWire.icns" file to "LaunchAnywhere.icns".

Now you must log out and log back into OS X for the dock to be re-set. This is quite a process but if you really enjoy the look of your OS X icons, then it is worth it.

Thumbs up Not so bad...

For those of you worried that the steps detailed above are difficult...THEY ARE NOT. Just do EXACTLY what it says (download the LaunchAnywhere.icns file from that guy first) and you will have it fixed.

I did this in less than a minute, and I'm not very good with computers.

Question

Like everyone else, I need to get my lime slice back...however, I'm tripped up at the first step of the solution, downloading the old program on my new Limewire. I can't find it, my searches always turn up empty. Can anyone help me? I hate the plug!

Thanks,
Michelle
