Location box not there?
 

Hi, am I completely blind or what? Try as I might, I can't find a location column in my Limewire 2.4.4 window. Where is it supposed to be?

Nope, you're not blind. This has been missing for a few revs now. I'd very much like to see it reappear, as I used to use it a lot - to see whether something I've found is on the same machine as something I'm already downloading, so I can choose to try elsewhere instead... spreading the load and (I hope) getting more consistent downloads in the process.
It also helps me avoid trying something from a server that's already proven to be not responding well.

So, Adam and co, any chance of seeing it come back?

Yeah, I'd love to see it back, too. It makes it easier for me to block those pesky hosts who always send back 1k htm and mpg files no matter what I search on.

I don't know what the MacOSX equivalent to a "right-click" is (command-click or whatever it is called), but do it on the bar above the search result table, the one that says name, size, etc... You can customize the table there (unfortunately, it's the only table that allows for that, yet).

A hidden feature accessed by a non-standard keystroke isn't really a good alternative! The Mac OS standard for performing a 'right-click' wioth a one-button mouse is control-click. Limewire uses the command key instead, which is totally against the Apple Human Interface Design guidelines.

However - I do appreciate knowing how to access this 'lost' feature. Thanks!

Perhaps future versions of the software could use control-click rather than command-click? And maybe this is something that should be built into the Preferences window as well, with a note there telling users they can access the feature by control-clicking or right-clicking the column titles?

I agree with thatk - It's accessed in a pretty obscure way. I would have thought that it would suit being under the view menu (currently only monitor, connections and library), but that's just my 2 cents. Alternatively, setting the field display options in a prefs panel may be good, too.

I think it's Java's fault to use command-click instead of control click. The JRE for Macs however was produced by Apple.

Hmm.. never notice that before. I'll have to investigate, but if this is the case (which seems a little surprising although not impossible) I hope that the Limewire crew are pestering the Apple Developer tech services team with complaints about the issue. If it is Apple's fault, it still comes across to the end user as a Limewire weirdness, which of course ain't good!
