Can't install Limewire uhh... I downloaded the instalation file from Zdnet and when I tried to unstuff it i get a message that saysthat it has been stuffed in an unsuported format. I am running OS 10.1.5 HELP!!! |
acctually it says the file is in an "Unsupported ARCHIVE format" Same question how can it be un stuffed. I am also running Stuffit 6.5 Deluxe, if that helps... |
Mac OS10.1.5: can't download!! I too am unable to download Limewire's latest 2.4.4 version. I downloaded a prior version without difficulty and have been using it for months. I just tried to download the latest version and the only thing that downloads is a .sit file which, when I double click on it, only opens into Microsoft Word. No sign of an installer anywhere. Any idea what gives? |
First of all, make sure you have file extensions always visible in the Finder. Try turning off "automatically decode Binhex and MacBinary files" in Internet Explorer's preferences. BTW get 5.2 if you don't have it already! Also/or then try renaming the downloaded file with different file extensions like .bin if it isn't already. Perhaps force quit (or force relaunch) the Finder by hitting Command+Option+Escape and select it from the list. The finder is sometimes slow in updating the icon of files and the file type. I've had it before where the Limewire installer app had a stuffit icon and when double clicked it would open in Stuffit and nothing would happen. I think I added a .app to the end and then it launched the Limewire installer app. Let me know if this helps.... |
