Default quitting

running limewire on mac osx -- downloaded yesterday and figuring it out--but can't quit the application. I have to forcequit - is that the only way? command Q doesn't work nor does Quit in the limewire menu.

I ran into the same problem when I first started using LimeWire. As it turns out, the default behavior is to delay exit until any pending upload/downloads complete. If you want LimeWire to quit immediately whenever you tell it to do so, go to the "LimeWire" menu at the top of your screen, choose "preferences", then click on "shutdown". You should see two choices on shutdown behavior. You will want to choose the first one: "Shutdown Immediately".

Default Quit improvement suggestions

I also had this problem, may I suggest that shutdown is re-worded in the preferences It implies, or at least it did to me, that your computer would shut down after a download.

By default you should be able to Quit limewire by the normal methods, and selecting 1 option in preferences "prevent 'Quit' during transfer' would be better, perhaps even grey out the Quit option in the menu when this is selected.

Gary.

Default quitting

Same problem here under OSX. The "Quit", "Quit NOW" feedback was only for the classic version, there is no such option under OSX. The problem I am having that LImeWire can only be exited using Force Quit. I am very unhappy with this.

Can LimeWire please address this as soon as possible?

If you do as described in the first reply to this post, your problem will be solved. The option is for setting your shutdown behavior in the Mac OS X version of LimeWire 2.4.4. I did as described in the reply and now I can exit immediately by using any of the normal ways of quitting a Mac application. Additionally, once you've set your preference to be "Shutdown Immediately", you can even exit by clicking on the red button, which is un-mac like. The default option, "Shutdown after Transfers", is apparently to heed your exit request only after all file transfers have been completed. It's a nice option, but one that apparently causes confusion.
