re: ultrapeer isn't enabled, and the port doesn't really matter. It's just there are so damn many requests, so even though the firewall is only running @ 5% of it's capacity for the building (so the infosys guy says), so i guess it doesn't really matter.. it's just that it appears to the network admins that i'm running a server cause of all the requests, so they have not only limited my bandwidth, but knock on my door occasionally asking how there can be 10,000 requests in 12 hours and somehow i'm NOT running a server. it's just like a big neon sign that says "HI NOTICE ME" so wtf. maybe it's not possible to stop this. so i guess i cannot use this program. überLAME |
Ask for the netadmin to change your IP. Those connection requests would stop if they were blocked at a point earlier than your dorm or if you shared the files requested. The first option needs to be done by the netadmin and you can't do the second one because then you would be a server. You could even stop running LimeWire and the firewall would still see many of the connection requests. The netadmin needs to change your IP and deny the old IP from connecting at their firewall. |
why dont u try a macintosh or pc forum, not limewire forum. they may know more on this kinda stuff. but i have no problems downloading/uploading so i couldn't tell you. hahahaha :) |

re: efield: i'm actually dhcp, so my ip changes daily (as i restart the machine at least once per day). The netadmin tried a few different static ip's as well. the firewall IS actually denying all incoming requests, so it's not like i'm bogging anything down. It just sucks seeing that there are thousands of denies every day. kinda puts you on the map with the netadmins... maybe what i'm asking is not possible. if that's the case, then it was fun while it lasted... |
re: Gnutella Forums > Current Gnutella Client Forums > LimeWire (Cross-platform) > General Mac OSX Support unregistered: i don't think another forum exists that would be more appropriate to ask this question.. |

I'm having the same problem. I removed Limewire the files and all, but I'm still getting requests 10-20/min. I even got a warning from my IPS saying that they've had complaints I'm a pirate. I can't seem to fix it! |
So my IPS could not simply assign me a new IP Adddress. I suppose they weren't smart enough! But… in Network Preferences I selected Built-in Ethernet and Manually using DHCP Server. Where my IP Address was grabbed from the server I entered the same 8 numbers and off the top of my head entered the last 3. Ta-da… works great. Haven't had a hit in two hours. So long LimeWire. |
