![]() Since my last upgrade to 2.5.5 this problem shows up with files that some other USER started downloading. It is obviously related with the privileges to use the files in the default folder /Applications/Limewire/Incomplete. It can be avoided by making sure the files in there have the rigth owner. (You may need to use the Terminal...) before starting Limewire. This is simple a problem with the way Limewire is built. For some reason developers do not pay attention to the multiuser character of the OS. There is NO NEED for me to start downloading a file that somebody else's started. If some smart developer reads this PLEASE try to implement a download.dat file for every User (to be stored at ~/Library/Application Support/Limewire) or/and a separate Incomplete folder for every User. This will fix many of the problems that show up in this list. Thanks... |

![]() Mr E (or anyone), Do you know of a way to salvage a downloaded file that "Could Not Move to Library" I have a few MP3's that it took some time to find (and download) and I'd rather not have to go through that process again if I don't have to. The files are complete and sitting in my "Incomplete" folder (they can be played). Is there a way to move them to an accessible folder? Many have made reference to the problem, but no one has suggested a fix. Perhaps that's because there isn't one. Does anyone know of a workaround? Thanks in advance Rye |

![]() Rye Once the file has been marked as "Couldn't move to Library" I think Limewire forgets about it and you have to handle the files by yourself. At least yours are complete. In that case use the Finder to change their names to something more friendly (Drop the T-547309... in front of them) and move them to your Shared directory (or wherever you want). In my case I use to get the "Couldn't move to Library" problem with files that haven't completely download and are trying to resume. If my wife started the download she is the owner of the temporary file and I can't write to it (by default Limewire assign Read&Write permissions to owner and ONLY Read to the everybody else). So changing the privileges of every file in the Incomplete directory fixes the problem. In your case it seems that you don't have permission to write to the Shared directory (I think the message would show also if the file already exists there.) So I would recomend you to check your privileges in Shared from the Finder. You(or the group you belong to) must have Read and Write permissions to it (usually the group "Staff"should have permissions "Read&Write"). If you don't then from the administrator account in Jaguar you can change the permissions from the finder (Cmd-I). Otherwise use the terminal: >cd /Applications/Limewire >sudo chmod 664 Shared >cd Shared >sudo chmod 664 * Hope this helps. |

![]() Thanks Mr. E I used Sherlock to locate the files in the Incomplete directory, and was then able to drag them to my storage disk, change the name and make use of the files! Thank you for responding, and for your assistance. I likely would've got around to trying that, but you saved me loads of time and angst! I wish that I could return the favour, and help you with your dilema, but alas, I am definitely more of a user than a tech! Thanks again and good luck!! Rye |
