Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. Limewire & Jaguar Hard Crashes I installed Jaguar (10.2) shortly after it was released and was very impressed with how much it improved Limewire's performance. Limewire was much more responsive! Unfortunately, since yesterday, I suddenly started having serious crashes when running Limewire. The app will launch, but after running anywhere from 1-10 minutes, it will crash and crash hard. The entire system freezes up, I cannot force quit, and the only alternative is a hard power off and reboot of the system. Sometimes I still have my mouse pointer, but I can't click on anything. Sometimes I can start searches and even initiate downloads, but then things will lock up after a while. This is very repeatable - I've had this happen over five times since last night. The last time I was able to run Limewire successfully was around Sept. 02 or so and I have not installed any new software since then. I have no idea what might be causing this. I ran Norton Antivirus and it came up empty. I've even downloaded the Limewire installer again and installed everything from scratch. The crashes occur even if I'm not running any other app. Here's my system: PowerMac G4 400 AGP (stock except for extra RAM and an additional internal hard drive) 448 MB RAM OS X 10.2 Limewire 2.5 Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance! Roger |

In an attempt to fix this problem, I took drastic action. I installed a new 40 GB hard drive as my startup disk (which I had been planning to do anyway) and reinstalled OS X 10.2 from scratch. Today, the 10.2.1 update came out so I installed that. I then downloaded and installed the latest Limewire, version 2.6, today. Fresh new hard drive, fresh install of the latest OS X, and a fresh install of the latest Limewire. If anything was going to fix this problem, this surely would, right? Wrong. The same thing happens. Limewire launches and runs for a bit and then hard crashes as described above. This time, I was actually able to download a few items and Limewire ran for over an hour before crashing. One peculiar thing I noticed is that when I look at items that are being uploaded, many items are being uploaded at 0 KB/s. Even after I "kill" those uploads, new ones appear at 0 KB/s. I wonder if this is a symptom of the problems I'm having. What's going on here? Is anyone else having this problem? Help!!! Roger |

Thanks guys! That totally was the problem! Well, not totally, but I've been able to solve the problem. I disabled the Ultrapeer capability and Limewire ran great for several hours while I used the computer. I then left for about two hours or so, came back, and my screen saver had filled the screen but was frozen. A hard restart was the only recourse. I remember reading stuff about OS X having various issues with sleep and screen savers so I went and turned those off. Limewire's been running great since! Thanks for the help! Roger |

i posted my complaint of the same problem in another thread... I'm running an iMac with 10.2 (will get 10.2.1 in a few minutes) everything's stock except for extra RAM. My machine's completely stable except for limewire. There are times when the latest version wont even load properly before my computer crashes. It's quite frustrating and I've uninstalled it completely and I may try again now that I know about the ultrapeer thing. I don't know about the sleep thing though, that seems to be a G4 thing (several G4s have the problem at work but none of the iMacs). It's frustrating! Cheers! |
