I can't seem to get any connection. I click connect and nothing happens. It just keeps telling me I'm disconnected. Help!

Try entering the following in the connections window (make sure the port is set to 6346) . Click on Add and type them in at the bottom:

router.limewire.com
public.bearshare.net
connect1.bearshare.net
connect2.bearshare.net
connect3.bearshare.net
connect1.gnutellanet.com
connect2.gnutellanet.com
connect3.gnutellanet.com
connect4.gnutellanet.com
gnutella.hostscache.com
gnet2.ath.cx
gnotella.fileflash.com
gnet2.ath.cx
gnutella-again.hostscache.com
gnutella.hostscache.com

You can also enter them in the preferences in Tools>Options>Connections.

Unhappy Help! No connections!

I have the same problem as Britton... I just downloaded LimeWire for my iMac and it just won't connect. I tried Mac Terminator's advice but that did nothing. Maybe I'm just too blonde for this kinda stuff.

Sometimes you have to try for quite a bit to get a stable connection. Try entering all of the addresses I mentioned in the preferences (Tools>Options>Connections) and then restart Limewire. If you still don't get a connection then try entering each of them manually in the connections window - try each one several times before giving up.

As you probably know, some ISPs and a lot of university servers block ports commonly used for file sharing (Limewire uses port 6346). To check whether this port is available on OSX (you can't do this on OS9 or earlier) , do the following:

1. Open the folder Applications>Utilities and double click on Terminal

2. With your Internet / Ethernet connection active, type in 'telnet 64.61.25.171 6346' and you should get a message 'Gnutella OK'

If you don't get this message then the port is blocked and you can't use Limewire.

Having same problem as well. Tried the suggestions. Port isn't blocked. Try to connect and the little indicator at the bottom left flashes green for a second and then goes back to the red diconnected status.

Angry can't connect

I too am having this problem. I added the connection whatchamathings and checked the telnet doohicky and it said "Gnutella OK" but still the little light goes from red to green right back to red. Obviously there's something basically wrong if several of us are having this problem. Would downloading the beta help?

Cool

Whaddya know. I put in all the address things that Mac Terminator suggested, RESTARTED LIMEWIRE, and it worked. I stand corrected. (That's my message directly above.)

Now the only problem is that with my modem connection, I will be old and senile before I get anything downloaded.
