What is the point if i cant transfer????
 

I have used lime wire for about two weeks now and i think that in gener al its realy slow... but... i would be willing to stick with it (only because nothing else is compatiable with Mac osx) except that once i have a music file I CANT GET IT OUT OF LIMEWIRE. what is the point if i cant transfer the music files to my own playlist where i burn all of my cds?????? i use i tunes if that helps anyone out.. The file wont drag to desktop, and when i go to import that doesnt work either.
PLASE HELP. or i am unninstalling
*also if anyone knows of another program compatiable with mac let me know!!!!!

Go to your Limewire preferences and look under player. There uncheck the use limewire player so that it will use your system default which should be iTunes if you have selected as your system default. Hopes this helps.

Although LimeWire is still my favorite filesharing client, Acquistion shows some promise. It is much more responsive than java clients such as LimeWire and it's interface follows Mac conventions more closely. I found a link to Acquisition at http://www.macorchard.com/sharing.html

Getting back to LimeWire, you may enjoy it more if you go through all the various options under the Limewire:Preferences menu and customize to your taste. I know I'm happier since turning off the internal mp3 player and changing the default shutdown behavior to actually quit rather than simply minimizing to my dock.

I block Acquisition downloads
 

Well, I deliberately kill all Acquisition connections. I wish I had a way to deny them automatically.

The reason? Acquisition seems to have this "feature" that opens several parallel connections to download a file in parts. I have seen ONE Acquisition client consume ALL of my available upload slots!

Those Acquisition assholes end up locking out everybody else. They'd lock out others for a whole day or more if they're downloading a DVD or something.

I've never had an Acquisition user make just one connection to me. They always make as many connections as possible. So I kill 'em.

Saving playlist from LW Pro.
 

I am a new imac user and have purchased LW pro. How do I save the playlist. It won't open the SAVE button only the CANCEL button. I need to save the playlist to import it into iTunes in order to burn a CD? Or do I? I tried the preferences move suggested to uncheck use limewire mp3 player as default and it does not seem to matter.

As far as I can tell LimeWire does not offer playlists for your music. However having said that you say you are using iTunes for your defualt player. Every time iTunes playes a song it knows where the song is and lists it in it's library. You can do all the reorganizing you want with iTunes and burn them as well if you have a burner (either built in with a super drive or external). If your iMac has a built in superdrive then you are laughing. Toast is also an alternative and is the route I use. In using iTunes just drag all the songs you want on a CD into a folder and name it anything you want. Open the folder and then choose burn CD from the upper right part of the window. Its a little more involved if you use Toast and an external burner but not much. Hope this helps. Just post more questions to this forum if you have any.

Yes you can move any folder that you have downloaded with LimeWire. To find out where limewire has put the files just go into limewires preferences and look under sharing. In the Shared Directories window is the file path of where your saved folder is. Note that this is the same place that you okayed when you first installed LimeWire. You can also designate other folders on your hard drive to share with others as well. Navigate to the above folder and you can drag it to your desktop, put it in any folder you want or even move or delete it. If you move this folder or rename it the application will not be able to find your shared files.While you are checking out this folder you may want to note that your incomplete folder is also in this area. If you veiw them from within Limewire it shows you how big the existing file is too. You need to do a get info if not veiwing from within Limewire.:)

It was the simplest thing on earth to find my home/shared folder where Limewire by default saves all of the files you download. And importing those mp3s into iTunes was equally easy - just tell iTunes where your shared folder is! Mine's set to always refresh whatevers in my shared folder. Just play it or burn it from there. If you want to get elaborate, you can move those files into other folders - but why bother? You can't drag & drop directly - one minor detail, but from the finder, you can do anything!
