![]() Hello, I am a new user and so i am not very familiar with limewire interface. When i select audio search, only one option is available (name of file). I thought it was also possible to search by artist, album and so on. I run Limewire 2.8.4 on a Imac with OS X. Thank you for your help. Jean-Marie EDQUIST edquist@stimtech.fr |

![]() When this happened to me, I tracked it down to a permissions problem. LimeWire will not offer to search on esoteric fields, nor will it display bitrates or gather metadata from shared files, unless it has permission to write various files in /Applications/LimeWire/lib. If you have multiple users and installed with one but are running with another, or if you tried to "lock down" the permissions on the LimeWire application directory, you may run into this problem. If you install LimeWire as the user you will run it as, you shouldn't have a problem. The developers are aware of this problem and have said that it will be fixed. Those files that go in the lib directory really belong with limewire.props, which is stored in ~/Library/Preferences/LimeWire. Mark 2.8.4/10.2.3/iMac 800MHz |

![]() Thanks for the info. I will check and eventually try to reinstall Limewire but i have only 1 user and have not tried to lock any permissions. What is strange is that although Limewire is installed in the "general" applications folder (and not in my "home/app ..." folder), the prefs are stored in my "home/lib/pref ..." and not in the general "lib/prefs ..." ![]() Good ! I've learned something new tonight (i am also a new OSX user !). Another strange thing happened : i did not shut down the imac yesterday nor changed any settings) and when i cheked audio search today, all the options appeared (by title, artists ans so on ...). It must be the magic of christmas ... Anyway, thank you for your replies. Jean-Marie EDQUIST edquist@stimtech.fr |
