Some improvement with 2.8.5 -- Window Manager bug is alive, but not well Tried out 2.8.5 on my G4/400Hz with OS 10.2.2 Looks good. Then I tried my "regular" test: launched AppleWorks. Window Manager jumped to 97.8% but, after about a minute, it came down to 67% and AppleWorks started to run, veeeeeery slooooooowly, but it did run. This is an improvement, albeit a minor one. LimeWorks is still a Stand alone application as far as I'm concerned. Maybe, by version 2.8.55 all will be well. Janet |
Did you mean a 'run alone application'? Mine works great if I don't run anything else, but necessitates a second computer if you have other things to do. |
Exactly. But, tell me, do you actually manage to download/upload with 2.8.5? I haven't yet. |
Yes, I can download files, seemingly with greater success than previous versions. But the uploading monitor window is a baffling mystery. Some connections look normal, but they are the exception. Most pop up and drop out repeatedly within seconds. Poor implementation. Browsing while Limeing is sporadically better, still not ready for PrimeTime. I am running 2.8.5 on 10.2.3 on an older G4 with a 400 chip, and 1 gig of RAM. I have turned off the 'ultrapeer capability', because it always causes LW to crash. The programmers tell me that is not the cause, but it fixes the problem for me. |
