Slow down when limewire window covered I have noticed that if you cover the limewire window with any other window it continuously updates the window, grinding my system to a halt. This can be seen using 'Quartz Debug' from the apple developer tools. Is this a java thing or just limewire? The only way I find it usable is by using codetek virtualdesktop which allows me to run limewire on its own 'desktop' so it is never covered. Is this a known issue? is it just me?? Cheers, Doug Oh yeah, limewire 2.8.5 (2.7 did it too) and 10.2.3 (10.2.x did it too) |
This is the Window Manager bug You're experiencing the well-documented Window Manager bug. [Window Manager claims 60-90% of the CPU making it impossible to get any real work done.] As far as I know it's caused by LimeWire, not Java. There's a simple work-around: Hide LimeWire before launching any other applications, and Hide each application before flip/flopping to LimeWire. The LimeWire team has been conspicuously absent from this forum for several weeks now so we don't know how they're progressing on this bug or any of the other serious problems with 2.8.5. Janet |
At least it is not just my system! I think virtualdesktop does the equivalent of the hide thing so I don't see the problem when used with it. Oh well, wait for the next version.... Thanks, Doug |
