While we Impatiently Wait for the Promised Bug Fixes

I've been using Acquisition, which is up to version 0.704 now, and I must confess, it is getting pretty sweet indeed. It handles many connections without prodding. Right now it has 5 peers and 44 leaves running, and it connects to the LimeWire network much better than in the past.

I have had it running for 2 days straight (actually, I ran 0.703 for 2 days and just now downloaded and started 0.704. No hiccups, no burps, no crashes, just humming right along nicely.
I still wish it either had more LimeWire like features, or that LimeWire would hire this guy to fix the latest cr*p they've stuck us with, and make their program usable once again.

But for those of you that are tired of waiting, (heck, they don't even answer Pro support anymore, I wrote them over a week ago), I would strongly recommend this as a more than viable alternative. I'm close to paying the developer the $20, knowing that he cares about the product he puts out, updates it often, and answers messages personally from his posters. And just say good bye to L W.

Unfortunately, Acquisition is still limited

Clueless,

Unfortunately, Acquisition is still limited to mp3 support, from what I can tell. No good for those of us wishing to exchange avi & mpeg files.

ISwipe is slightly better for avi/mpeg, but still a work in progress.

That leaves me with LimeWire.

I'm more than a little worried by the total silence from LimeWire. I'm beginning to suspect something very bad is happening there. Perhaps they are planning to drop OS X support, or perhaps there's major trouble within the team.

I've given myself til Monday. If we've heard nothing from LimeWire by then I'm going to suggest that we all bombard the team's personal emails with demands for information.

Hi jannuss:

You should give it a whirl. Now that it connects to the LimeWire network, I've had pretty good luck with avi and mpg files, although you have to discern the spam from the chaff.

Acquisition has always, since the very beginning, supported all file types.

I Agree

I have just started using Aquisition and have been able to download files other than MP3. Best of all, it does not hog all of your CPU memory,(you don't have to hide it to continue using it.) Hasn't quit on me unexpectedly yet, even after leaving it on for two days.

Thanks for the new pogram.

If you mean where, then it is

If that's not the question, please explain. I have the free version also, which bugs you every 45 minutes with a reminder, but I'm not buying any more incomplete programs. I'll gladly pay when I figure out how to make the java stop crashing.
