Default Limewire sharing more than in shared folder

I have 515 files in my "Shared" folder, but Limewire shows that I'm sharing 2369 files. How? Why?

And it "Unexpectedly" quits frequently. I downloaded a few hundred songs in the past couple of weeks. Limewire was working great. Then it started messing up. I have no idea why.

If LimeWire is sharing more files than you have in your shared directory, I would suggest that you have also shared some other directories. LimeWire is not limited to the directory that happens to be named 'shared.' It can, if you instruct it to, share other folders as well.

Generally the folder where you download to is shared as well, and if when you installed LimeWire you let it scan your hard drive for files to share, other directories with media will be shared.

It's pretty easy to find out which ones are shared.. just have a look at the library tab, the upper left pane. If more than one directory is listed there, you have your answer

Default Limewire Sharing more than in a shared folder

I did go to the library tab and look. It showed only two folders: Shared and Incomplete. I looked in the shared folder in limewire and it seemed to have the same files and were in the actual shared folder.

I do download to the shared folder. It's name is "Shared."

Here's how I solved the problem. I threw away everything that was in my shared folder. Now as I accumulate files in that folder, Limewire reports the number that are actually in that folder.

Default can't remove from library

Now that I have a folder in the library, how do i remove it? I can't find a way to prevent this folder from being shared. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Default To remove a file from the library

Pull down Preferences in the Limewire menu and, under the heading "Sharing", "remove" whichever files you highlight from the list of files shared.
