LimeWire itself will only let change the Browser to use (that's only possible on Linux & Solaris).

Have you installed LimeWire yet? It sounds to me like you haven't, and your computer is trying to open the LimeWireOSX.zip (or .sit) file in Internet Explorer. You should open it with StuffIt Expander instead. Command-click LimeWireOSX.zip and do Open With:StuffIt Expander. If StuffIt Expander is not present in the list, choose Other and navigate to StuffIt Expander, which should be in /Applications/Utilities. The alternative is to fire up StuffIt Expander by locating it in the Finder and double-clicking it, and then opening LimeWireOSX.zip from within that application.

Once decompressed, you should have a double-clickable LimeWire_Installer file. It should install LimeWire in /Applications, or in any other place you want it.

If you've already installed LimeWire, which would be weird given your description of the problem, then try trashing the LimeWire folder and running the installer again.

I have installed Limewire. When I click to open it, the top bar says disconnected. When I try to search for something (in Limewire), it trys to open Mac Internet Explorer instead of Microsoft Internet Explorer which I already have open and am running on. When I close Microsoft Internet Explorer and try to open Mac Internet Explorer, it tells me theres an error.

OK, Microsoft Internet Explorer is what I run on and Internet Explorer Mac version is what keeps coming up when I go to do anything in Limewire.
