I have tried to find the limwire preferences folder or file to look at changing it as recommended above. I opened my system folder then preferences, then limewire, but the only file therein opened limewire. Also someone has noted that this is an OSX forum. I didn't know that. How would I get to a system 9 forum. I am clearly not very good at this stuff. Thanks for your patience and assistance. |
I forgot to mention that I went to Library in limewire and hit the launch button for a completed song and nothing happened as well as trying on a song that was 80% downloaded. |
One way of navigating here is to use the drop down menu at the bottom of this page that says Forum Jump Use that Drop down to get to General Mac OS Discussions And then push the 'go' button. |
Actually, it says General Mac OS Support on the drop down menu. By the way, you can also open mp3 files in QuickTime as another option, although many prefer iTunes. Another place for help is the discussions at apple.com. You can go into a large database of OS 9 users dealing specifically with iTunes. |
I see what you're talking about on the other forums. I'm not sure whether I should bail out on this one at this point, although it seems I'm no closer to resolution. I guess nothing prevents me from dropping a note over there and checking on this thread too. You've been very helpful. |
"8" Keep in mind that the people there will be using the same OS as you. That makes a pretty big difference between OS 9 and 10. For instance, because I am using OS 10 and rarely use 9 anymore, I can't remember or physically see what you are dealing with, and can't easily do much for you without booting into OS 9 myself. My opinion, it will be less frustrating for you because you'll probably get your problem solved quicker. Another example: I went to the Apple discussion for OS 9, searched for discussions on iTunes, and came back with something I had totally forgotten about: "The place to set that is in the Internet control panel. Open that control panel, click the Advanced tab, scroll to File Mapping - change the app association for mp3 files. " So that might be a good place to start looking at for your file associations. |
