Trashed Movie Hi Guys, I downloaded a movie and decided it was of poor quality so I decided to trash it. An avi file, I am on Mac OSX 10.1.5 the movie was 581mb not one of those AWESOME's. When I try to empty the trash the whole of my screen fills up with with messages - Black background - White text. Most of the data is about Kernells. What are Kernells and any ideas as to how I can solve this problem? Any advice much appreciated. Jack. P.S. I tried to take a snapshot of the screen but could not. |
Perhaps you could try trashing it from OS 9 instead? |
Hi Clueless, I re-booted into OS 9 then trashed the files, everything is allright now. Thanx for the tip. All the best Jack.:) |
Hi Jack (that you too clueless?) Sounds like you had what the Mac techies call a Kernel Panic. They're not supposed to happen, so if you can still get the free AppleSupport, they tend to take it seriously. Might be worth checking out the OSX discussion boards to see if your situation is similar. Cheers all |
Hi Stief, Unfortunately my Apple support has run out. By the sound of it could it be a problem with my computer? I thought it was the file, having said that it happened about 2 months ago when I was downloading using " Kazza for OSX" Then I just thought it was buggy and trashed the program. Oh well I'll search for some answers to see what the problem is. Jack. |
Sounds like a good plan. I just found the LW 2.9.9 is out, so if I can help more with this off-topic thing, I've set my prefs to allow emails. Cheers |
I've just heard of people having panics while trying to empty trash, maybe due to file sizes, etc. The apple discussions board has documentation on the subject. At the least, I would do an fsck and a permissions check/repair to see if anything turns up amiss. Otherwise, if all other actions are normal, and it only happens when trashing some files, I wouldn't be too worried. |
