Application window not showing up Hi, I hope someone can help me. When I switched over to OS X Jaquar I reinstalled Limewire basic and I can't get the application to show up. The program launches ok and the menubar shows up, I can even access the preferences...but the actual application window won't activate. I tried hiding and unhiding Limewire via the view menu and quitting all other open applications. I finally gave up and have been using Limewire by starting up in OS 9.2 thinking it was a bug and in time it would be fixed. That was 3 months ago and today I tried reinstaling the most current version of Limewire thinking (hoping) the problem went away. No such luck. I would appreciate any help or work arounds so that I can use Limewire directly within OS X. It sucks having to restart in OS 9.2 everytime I want to use Limewire! I thought about upgrading to Limewirepro...but if I can't get basic to work, then why should I throw money away? Thanks Al |
Pro and basic are functionally the same. Think of Pro as a donation. Here's what I do for a clean install use LW's uninstall, then get rid of the extras: Finder->Find Search in: Everywhere File Name contains: "limew" Visibility: All I also trash the LW installer's invisible pref: search for "zerog" (cmd-opt-delete needed for this one) Inspect any folders called "incomplete" (I trash all the old incompletes and the downloads.dat file to really start fresh). -reboot in safe mode -repair permissions -reinstall java 1.4.1 Download a fresh copy, and if that doesn't work, then for further OSX troubleshooting help try here |
You gotta be kidding! I have this problem too, and I did make the donation in support of their work. Is this the only way to correct the problem? How does one boot in safe mode? Please email reply to john_q_public@scglobal.net Thanks! |
