Angry Internet/AIM Connetions RE: Limewire

I am operating a system 10.2.2 Mac (If to be of any help). I have been using limewire for weeks, updating when ever the start-up icon would propose. However, on the latest update after I installed Limewire, my Internet Exploer (v5.2?) and my AIM (v4.5.995?) will completely freeze up while I was using them. Since the Internet and AIM had been working before the new Limewire, I uninstalled Limewire and found, not to my surprise, that they worked again (which is how I am writing this). I hope no one finds me to be a lost cause. Limewire is great software that I hope to be able to use again.

Default Limewire and other applications

Hi

Some users have been experiencing problems when running Limewire together with other applications (the operation of the other applications being interrupted by the spinning coloured wheel or grinding to a halt). The developers are aware of the problem and we await an upgrade that will resolve any problems with Limewire. However, do not assume it is a Limewire problem. When you accept OSX upgrades, there can be problems with the existing application permissions. So, as a self-help measure, restart your Mac with the Shift key held down, invoking Safe Boot mode. This will cause First Aid (also known as fsck, or file system check) to be run (invisibly, but it is being run). (Restart again immediately, in the normal way, after doing this.) If that does not improve performance, run Repair Permissions in the First Aid Panel in Disk Utility (located in your Utilities folder.) There are other things to check, but let's start with the easiest first.

Default Re: Limewire and other applications

Thank you VERY much for the reponse.

Will do. I think I pretty much understand it (although a drummer, I still know my way accross the key board). No promises as to when I will have the time but I will get to it. With the new week starting, I will be booked solid, getting home pretty late. What are some of the other checks I would be able to run for the future?
