Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. moving files from Lime Wire to iTunes I used to be able to click and drag files from lime Wire to iTunes to burn my downloads to CD. Suddenly I can't do that any more. They won't budge. They just play if I click on them. How can I move songs from Lime Wire to iTunes to burn a CD? |
| |||
An interesting development I haven't encountered this particular problem before although more people are reporting problems with the Shared folder these days. Are you saying that you cannot drag the files out of Shared at all? Or is it that nothing happens when you drop then on to iTunes? Anyway, regardless of your answer to this, try using the Add To Library command in iTunes. |

moving files from Lime Wire to iTunes Thanks, Dave, that worked! In fact, it was much more efficient than clicking and dragging the files over one at a time as I had been doing in the past. To clarify my pronblem, what I meant was that I could not click and drag a file out of iTunes at all, and still can't. If I click on it, it launches and plays, which is nice but not what I wanted to do. Anyway, you've taught me something! I was afraid to try the manoeuvre you suggested before, but I've done it and am pleased with the result! |

Hmmm Glad to help but there is still obviously a problem to solve. I suggest that you restart your computer in Safe Boot (by holding the shift key down during the restart routine). This will run a general file repair routine invisibly. Then repair permissions using First Aid (which you will find in Utilities). And restart your computer. If there is still something wrong with click and drag, let me know and I'll put my thinking hat on again. |

moving files from Lime Wire to iTunes Okay, I did what you suggested (having printed out the direcetions so I wouldn't foul up). Everything fine. Now i get the little hand that allows me to drag files, but the files I have in the Lime Wire Library under Shared have been c=successfully copied kkto itunes suing your suggestion, so maybe that's why I can't move them. So I downloaded some new stuff so I could try shifting that using the little hand. Now, new problem: where are my new downloads going? I don't see them in Lime Wire under Shared in the Library, and I don't see them in iTunes either, yet if I click on that button at the bottom of Lime Wire under Library where it says "open...", I found the files at one point, but can't locate them now! Sorry to be such a pest, but I'm still trying to figure all this out! P.S. Is 91 your age in Human years or in Dog years? (Curious! - Nosey?) |

One step forward, two steps back Well, you should be able to drag your files from Shared whether they are tagged by iTunes or not. And I seem to have tipped you into one of the new bugs that seems to be affecting some people (sorry about that). Your newly downloaded files should still be going into the Shared file. Use Finder to locate one of these new files and let me know where it is. More generally, I think it would be wise for you to replace your current version of Limewire. To give yourself the best chance of avoiding difficulty, don't just use uninstall. Use Finder to identify all the bits with "Limew" in the label (with the exception of your Shared file, of course) and trash them. Then go back to Limewire, download the latest free version and install that on a clean slate. If that doesn't give you improved performance, I'll give you the address to download an older less buggy version as a temporary fix. Doggy years!!!??? What's the multiplier? That would make me 500. I'm just steadily putting years under my belt with a view to making the maximum profit on my pension contributions and will soon get my name in the famous stout's book of records (no breach of copyright or trademark here, thank you) for outliving all the rest of the world. |

I found the downloads that I think ought to have appeared in Lime Wire's Shared folder in iTunes! Did I somehow rset the place to save files from Lime Wire to iTunes? It doens't really bother me that they're conveniently in iTunes, which is where I was going to move them to after downloading. It's just the "magic" of their being suddenly there that has me puzzled now! |

Hmmm Glad you found the missing files — it's a pesky nuisance when things go walk-about. They shouldn't have gone there directly but, like homing pigeons, some must have an instinct for the right thing to do. |

Just a thought... Maybe you've already done this, but if it can be of any help, you can also set in limewire preferences: saving/sharing the itunes folder and then you won't have two folders with the same info (takes up less space) Hope I could be of any help! |
