Unhappy New iTunes & file sharing

Without thinking, I updated my iTunes software before realizing that the new version is supposedly file-sharing restrictive. Is this going to affect all of my iTunes music files?! Does that mean no one can access my music files?! Is there a workaround -- moving files or copying them in the Shared folder? I don't want to lock anyone out. I haven't lauched iTunes since the upgrade. I use LimeWirePro. Help!

Thanks!

P.S. Newbie question: Why does LimeWire disconnect so often?! Drives me nuts.

I'm no guru at this, as many are here, but I believe you disconnect so often is due to the nature of the network.

You really have to do through and resolve perhaps hundreds of IPs before you can find a good three-five (if you're a leaf) that are stable connections. As an ultrapeer, you could constantly make and drop connections since you're aiming for at at least 30. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi bella and blackbird

I laughed when I noticed that the iTunes upgrade restricted sharing through the iTunes app to the local network (sounds like Apple's making a token gesture to keep the RIAA appeased), but don't see that should affect the sharing of iTunes folders through other apps like LW--I just checked, and the permisssions on the folders look the same as before.

As Blackbird says, connections are quite dynamic--perhaps volatile is a better description. If you are interested in more, see osu_uma's thread in the Beta forum on ultrapeer connections

Cheers

Thumbs up Thanks Stief & Blackbird

You eased my mind about the new iTunes. As long as I have mp3s in my shared folder, it should okay, at least that's what I'm "hearing."

The disconnects are a small price, I suppose!

Thanks for your help & explanations.
cheers!

Post iTunes doesn't affect LimeWire.

The only real effect iTunes 4 has on LimeWire is that music you purchase from the iTunes Music Store won't be playable on anyone else's machine, so there's no point in trying to share it. Not that you really should, anyway.
