Question Corrupt Files in OSX 10.2.6

I recently upgraded to OSX 10.2.6. I left on a short business trip, and came back and tried to download some music today. I am getting a corrupted file error at the very end of every download. I updated to the current LimeWire, and saw the same behavior. I saw another forum where others were reporting similar behavior. Only one noted Mac OSX and I saw no consistencies. The only thing I have changed is the OSX upgrade from 10.2.5 to 10.2.6. Any suggestions? Is this a Coincidence?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...Jim

Sorry--didn't see this myself after upgrading to OS 10.2.6. Check what vendors the file is coming from, or try searching and downloading some files you've never tried before. You're using LW 2.9.11, right?

A few more ideas to rule out your system as the culprit:
1-safe boot and repair permissions (a good idea after installing any software)
2.-reinstall Java
3.-test with a new admin user (this entails downloading and installing a fresh copy of LW)
4.-wait till the weekend (recent LW updates have come out Friday nights)

Default Thanks

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I think I will try options 3- 4 after this reply. I am a sys admin on a number of OSX Servers and have heard some horror stories on the repair permissions functionality and (Although Probably Mislead) am a bit leery of that. Anyway.. I will try your suggestions tonight.

Thanks,
Jim

you're welcome--I was just passing through and happened to notice your post.
Re the repair perms--I've had no troubles provided I avoided repairing from the CD or a remote volume (I was burnt once repairing another computer in Target disk mode via firewire). I just restart into safe boot mode, repair perms using Disk Utility from the same partition to be checked, and all is good. In fact, I make this a standard practise after any install. http://www.macattorney.com/tutorial.html (this is a pretty good OSX troubleshooting page) recommends permission repair as the most basic maintenance step for Jaguar.

Hope this helps--cheers
