3.02 Crashes After the program is running for a while, it will suddenly crash. Running 10.2.6, G4 500mHz, 1 Meg or RAM. Anyone else with this problem using 10.2.6? |
I know that is a typo and you have more than 1 MB of RAM, still, from running a program called MenuMeters, I have learned that 10.2.6 has a memory leak, so I hope you have a lot of RAM. My 10.2.6 has 1 gig of RAM, and I have a cable connection. My system NEVER sleeps, HD NEVER spins down, only monitor sleeps. With UltraPeer OFF and bandwidth set to 50%, I can run version 3.02 for days on end. UltraPeer on, bad things start happening. For me, at least. There are a couple of things for you to compare with your setup. Maybe you'll come up with a configuration that works. |
OS X has many crashes for a variety of reasons, too much CPU usage, too much memory, etc. However, Jens Uwe-Mager (Jum) has made a version of Limewire for OS X that fixes these bugs and reduces CPU and memory usage. You can find the jum version here: http://baghira.han.de/~jum/ . Just click on the link that starts with limewire and follow the instructions from there. |
Blackbird: Thanks for the link. Question: why is it that this person was able to create a knockoff that installs via drag and drop, and works better than the official release? Personally, I am sticking with 3.02 for now. I finally have a version that performs, and I am inclined to not fix what isn't broken. But I hope it helps others. |
Jum works with the limewire team. I don't know why they don't use a drag n drop install, I'd ask jum. And i should mention that the LW code is open source at limewire.org |
Thanks Bb. I went over to the beta forum and read a message from jum. Apparently he is in favor of drag and drop installations and his associates prefer the install they now use. Well, at least neither require a restart, so it could be much worse. I'm going to try jums in light of what I have read. Particularly because I can have both versions on the same machine. |
