movie help !!!

I keep getting this message when trying to play a mpg file:

Couldn't open the file because a softare componet needed by the movie could not be found.

what should I do ???

Try opening it with another player--VLC and mplayer are recommended. Search these forums for "software component" to find the links and more details,
