slow downloads I just switched to DSL and expected quick download speeds. Most of the songs I'm trying to download do so at speeds less than 10KB/sec. I've had a bunch at 50+ and even a couple at 100KB/sec+, but mostly they're very slow 3 - 5 KB/sec. Can anyone help me understand? I try to click only on the links that are T-3, T-1 or DSL/Cable. Thanks, Grantman |
See the info in the User Guide http://www.limewire.com/english/content/userguide.shtml If the OSX default firewall is on, that can mean extra steps for connections. Check the Preferences->Advanced->Firewall->Force IP to see if that helps. You can also open the OSX Firewall in System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall->New->Gnutella/Limewire (6346) |
Those connections between you and them are **shared** more often than not. If you look, you can put a cap on your output so you can continue to work your computer --- others do that. ---- and if you are one of 50 leafs connected to a 100k UltraPeer, guess what your average speed is going to be? Not precise --- but a "big picture" that should clarify. |
