Searching always "OR"? Is there some way to make the Search function act differently? At the moment it seems to look for each word of all the provided elements individually ("OR"); this seems to happen even if, for example, both Title and Artist are provided. Can't an "AND" be forced somehow? |
LW searches are "AND". Thought I had seen the same problem, but found when I looked at the tune in question, iTunes showed the other search terms were included in some other column. I guess the terms were in the metadata, or maybe even in the path. |
LimeWire strangely sometimes seems to use AND, but often uses OR. For example, I'm trying to find "Cindy, Cindy" by Lulu Belle and Scotty, so I enter Cindy in the Title field and Lulu in the Artist field. The resulting finds include Cindy Lauper and Cindy Thmpson, but none of the extended information for the finds contains Lulu, either as a full word, or a part word. An OR, in other words. At least, that's how I see it! |
Sure looks like an OR to me, especially since those results are coming from a current LW source when I tried here using 3.6.1. "cindy lulu" in "Any type", though, returned no results. Maybe the AND just works there. |
I think I get it now: there's an AND relationship between words in the same search field and an OR relationship between different fields. I want an AND between fields, too! |
I think it's supposed to be an AND. You could send a report to bugs@limewire.com just in case. I also searched for "LimeWire", and the results are equally unexpected. |
