Default Slow downloads in 3.5.8

Hello !!!
I'm running 3.5.8 on OSX and the download rate rarely goes above 1K
per second for anything. I've already tried disabling the ultrapeer option & reducing the available bandwidth, but neither increases the download rate.
Any suggestions ?

*The following might be my new favorite reply (Anyone wanting to quote me ©, eh bien, you can!)*

"if
Behind a firewall: open the port 6346
and/or
Behind a router: open and forward port 6346 to your computer (ie 192.168.1.100) and in preferences of LW -advanced-force ip- check the option and select the 6346 port.

Bonne chance"

Salut Voila !!!
Thanx for the suggestion, but I'm already on port 6346 & not behind a firewall or router (that I know of...) Still, I tried checking the 'Force IP' box, restarted LW,
no change... sigh...

'desolé le pote. Merci beaucoup tout de même !!!

Salut, est-ce que ta connexion est au collège/université/lycée? Si oui ça pourrait être l'explication car ils limitent l'activité P2P. Sinon, peut-être que ton fournisseur d'accès internet limite l'accès à gnutella, ce qui pourrait expliquer un petit k/s.... (au pire tu peux appeler ton FAI pour leur demander.

ciao

I don't speak/read French? (I hope) so I'm not sure if your question was answered. But I have a search suggestion... change the Quality level in the Prefs to only show 3 or 4 stars. That will increase the chances of a good download. Also change the download speed to Cable/DSL or better.
