can't close searches properly

When I click on the "x" on a tab of a particular search to close it, it often closes a DIFFERENT search. For example, I just tried it now. The tabs looked like:
SEARCH1 SEARCH2 SEARCH3 SEARCH4

I clicked to close SEARCH2, but SEARCH4 closed.
