Uther is flying high
Angry WARNING : All my documents have been deleted!!!!!!

I've tryed to upgrade LimeWire 3.6.14 on OS X 10.2.8.
There is now an installer and I gave my administrator password and launched the installation.
I choosed an Image Disk for destination.
Then, everything on my Desktop disappeared, and all my documents, library, etc.. folders were deleted.
It was impossible to recover them.
I think this is a major bug which has to be fixed as soon as possible!

Thanks for the answer, but I would like to know if the problem comes from the install package or from the installer application.

probably from the install password. Logout and relogin under your usual user account.

I don't think so. I had no problem to log in, but the installation deleted all the documents I had on my Disk!

Much more detail is needed--the installer has nothing to do with your documents folder--the OS controls that.

If the OS lost a link to a directory, that can usually be fixed with a "Safe Boot" (starting up with the shift key right after the start-up tone).

Did you search for a document name you remember, with the options set for "everywher" and visibility set to "all"?

I used Norton Unerase and all my files had actually been deleted. I managed to recover some, but much of them are defenitevely lost...
I've never seen such a thing before.

Ouch--I've read of lots of problems with Norton on the Apple discussion boards and elsewhere, like http://www.macattorney.com/tutorial.html

How many gigs did you lose? Click once on the hard drive and 'Get Info' (command-I) for the size/used info.

Did you try the Safe Boot?

I lost about 10Go. Everything in the "Users" folder was deleted.
I tried the Safe boot, and I tried to search where the deleted files could be, but I didn't find anything.

I don't understand--How were you able to start up if all the users in Users were deleted? Do you run as "root"/or "superuser"?

Anyway, when safari was released as a beta, something like your 'lost user' occurred. The discussion isn't on the Apple boards that I can find (archived?), but I did find this: http://www.macwrite.com/yourturn/saf...nstable-pf.php If you have experience using the terminal, maybe those ideas can help.

Sorry I can't help more. You should try to get in touch with bugs@limewire.com and try to detail as much as you can of just what steps might be needed to reproduce the problem. The installer works fine for most, so there needs to be a very unusual step somewhere for this to happen.

Do post back if you can find out more--it's a sad and very unusual problem.
