3.5.8 apparently crashes b/c of Japanese filenames I'm not sure if this is the real reason for the crashes, but yesterday I downloaded a couple of Japanese files whose filenames were in a non-standard encoding and thus appeared to be strings of special characters. The problem began when I was sharing the files. I tried to click on "Monitor" and it turned out someone was uploading one of the files and Limewire crashed. (Actually, it hung, and I had to force quit.) Later, I started up again and when I hit the "Library" tab and it had to display one of those filenames (this time with lots of boxes instead of special characters). It "redlined" and I had to force quit. I have renamed the files and will let you know if the problem goes away. System 10.2, Limewire 3.5.8 (I should upgrade, but I don't want to risk losing my big list of attempted downloads. I guess I'm partial to them.) I was running the virtual Classic environment during the first failure of the program, but not the second time. |
