Hi, Im a new LW user and am having problems connecting even when im online. like many people on this forum LW displays at the top disconnected/not sharing files. The search button does not highlight at all. Is there a setting I can go into and change. if someone could give me plain english step by step intructions that would be great x

You shouldn't have to do anything . . . LW connects automatically for most. The only setting that might help is the Preferences->Advanced->Firewalls->Force IP (check, and enter 6346 in the port number box).

If there is a problem, as you have seen, there is no easy step by step for connection problems. Networking is complex.

First, contact the person who controls how you connect to the Internet. Tell them you are having trouble connecting to a filesharing network, and want to know if "connections to the Gnutella network on port 6346 are allowed".

If your Internet connection allows gnutella filesharing, then you need to look at the long discussions in http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=22
