whats going on? help!! hay all! after running limewire for 3days now i seem to have come up with some probs, can anyone help me? I'm using my trusty (but slow) G3 ibook (the rather puoony 128mb) At the moment i'm useing AOL (free for the time being) No i don't have broadband (maybe thats one of my probs) and no i'm not useing limewire pro (hmm that could also be a prob) anyway. I'm losing it. 1. why is download time so long? 2.why can't i search for anything (green lights are go/on) 3.why am i always "awaiting sources" (2 days ago everybody had stuff i needed) 4.why does my computer think it's now a turtle (veerryy ssllooww) 5.why does stilten smell like old socks (thought i throw that in for fun) if anybody has the answers for me and how to make me and my computer happy again the please please email at macckol@aol.com |
AOL might be the culprit? other than YES dialup is slow, i suspect AOL. i used to have AOL and i seem to remember to do anything else i had to open and sign on with the AOL application first. i didn't like them - of course way back then i didn't have limewire. but, things took longer to download, and i wouldn't be surprised if they had some sort of P2P blocker. they aren't a direct ISP - internet content must go through them first. and i remember when i had them they censored the web content they allowed their subscribers to access, so... however, that was many moons ago, so i don't know their current story. any one else with AOL out their who can confirm that it does or doesn't work with limewire??? |
