Default Some downloads suddenly restart downloading from 0%

Okay, here's the deal: I have an G4 PowerPc iMac (1Ghz) and a good ADSL connection (I think). I use the 3.6.15 version of Limewire and have this problem with some downloads: the file is downloading fine but suddenly it dissapears from the top of the list and I find it on the bottom of it saying 0% downloaded and the download starts all over again. This is really annoying 'cause I downloaded a whole Monty Pythons film once (600 something Mb) and it reached 99% and restarted. After about 3 or so times I went to the incomplete folder and, after canceling the download, clicked on the file and found that it was actually complete so I took it and renamed it and have it sitting on my shareds.
I later found that when this happens, if I cancel the download and then go to the incomplete window on the Limewire library window, I can actually find the file on its pre-restart state and resume the download from there, so that if the download restarted at, say, 75% I can resume it from 75% and not from scratch.
All I wanna ask (finally) is " What the heck is causing this problem and, if you know what it is, can it be fixed?"
Sorry for that useless rambling.
Thanx.

Oh, btw I use OSX v10.2.8

Hmmm....this had been reported before, but seemed to be related to just certain files. In case it was a bug, try the newest LW (3.8.3).

And welcome--glad to see another Jag user helping out.

I don't get this with ALL files (thank GOD). I'm just saying that in the rare occasions this happens, it is rather annoying. Otherwise, this version of Lime works perfectly fine, well aside from a small things here and there. Hasn't caused any problems (yet), hope it won't cause any in the future. I don't want to upgrade yet from fear of getting a version that won't work as well and that I won't be able to reestablish this little harmony I have now.

Yup, upgraded to version 3.8.5 and in about 6 or so hours there it was again! The downloading film just started downloading from scratch and I had to do the "kill download he resume it from the incomplete library" thing to get it going again. Man, is it my computer at fault here, or am I doing something wrong or something?

We'll look into the problem with downloaders losing track of how much they've downloaded. If you notice any circumstances that are similiar in the various times it happens, it'd be useful if you can list those. Thanks.

I'm seeing the same here--this 99mb file which I have successfully downloaded in the past is stuck at 70% and I've downloaded 168MB of it so far-- the rate*time is also confirmed by the download stats in options. What is worse is that this partial file is taking up most of my upload slots and bandwidth.

Something is screwy here too.

Yeah stief, but from what you're saying the download didn't restart from scratch, although I've also had your problem a couple of times: the download was stuck at a certain % towards the end for like hours while the speed was supposedly good and the remaining time was about 5 min. I had to quit and relaunch Limewire for it to go away. Once I did that, the download was done in trully 5 min.
But anyway, what I'm saying (for my problem) is that, if you click twice the progress column (you know, in order to get the downloads with the best progress on the top), then the file(s) that I'm talking about just dissapear from where they were and reappear at the bottom.
While I've found a somewhat annoying way to counter this (the trick I was talking about), I want to know if it's fixable so that I don't find myself downloading multiple times the same file and using up HD space (among other things).
