DrForrester is flying high
Angry Crash, crash, crash!

I am running LimeWire 3.8.6 and OS X 10.3.2 on a G4 Quicksilver 867 MHz with a cable modem.

LimeWire freezes, requiring a quit and restart, whenever:

- a corrupted file is detected. I get a dialog informing me that the file is corrupted, and asking whether I want to continue with the download. I click "no" and LimeWire freezes.

- whenever I put the computer to sleep. When I return to the computer and "wake it up," LimeWire is frozen.

Also, whenever I am running an application that needs to quit all currently running programs on the Mac (such as an installer), LimeWire refuses to quit. I must then quit LimeWire manually.

All these problems are consistent and reproducible. None are intermittent.

LimeWire is by far the most unstable program I have on my computer.

I won't upgrade to Pro, because reading the posts here indicates that LimeWire Pro is the same low-quality software as the free version, with the added ability to connect to more than four hosts. Who wants to shell out good money for an application with a long, long history of instability and virtually no hope of any real improvement?

IF YOU WANT US TO PAY FOR THE SOFTWARE, FIX THE PROBLEMS FIRST.

Who are you writing to? This is a users forum, though sometimes the LW developers read and post here too.

Glad to see you can reproduce the problems. Did you send the crash.logs to bugs@limewire.com?

re the sleep problem, I just set the Energy Saver custom settings for display to sleep after 15 mins, and the computer to never sleep, and the hard drive to sleep whenever possible. The same settings work fine on the G3 (Jaguar) and the G4 running Panther

I haven't been seen the corrupt freeze, but I mostly use Jaguar.

The installer problem sounds like a Classic situation. In any case, set the LimeWire Preference to in Shutdown to Immediately.

I think of Pro as a donation to support p2p development and save myself a lot of 'expectation inflation' and grief.

hmmm--you probably aren't interested in any suggestions, but just in case you do find something useful that fixes your situation, would you kindly add it to here?

edit look here for discussions on file corruption
