OS 10.3.3 start up problems i upgraded my OSx Panther to 10.3.3 yesterday, and after that my Lime Wire Basic crashes during start up. I´ve re-installed limewire but no help. Has anyone experienced the same, or is there a solution to this problem? best, 1/2geir |
Most seemed to have no trouble, but yes, there have been a few who noted odd glitches after upgrading to Panther. Here are two suggestions. The first is to do a safe boot (restart and hold down the shift key just after the startup chime), then use the Disk Utility in the Utilities folder to repair Permissions Click here for the detailed links. The folks on the Apple discussion forums recommend this before and after any update anyway. Restart and if all is well, great. If that doesn't work, try a clean install. Search your hard drive for all files containing "limew" to find all the old pieces, and move them to the trash. Download a fresh version and try again. To really start fresh, also clean out your Shared folder, then delete it and the Incomplete folder. Cheers |
I'm having a similar but worse problem. I'm also using Limewire Basic, and upgraded to Panther about a month ago. However, since yesterday, everytime I open Limewire, it gets to the 'Limewire Pro' nag box, and as soon as I hit 'Later', my entire machine freezes. My. Entire. Machine. I've repaired my permissions, installed the Limewire upgrade, and its still exactly the same. |
Try this workaround noted here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hreadid=24778. If not, try the CVS version from here for now http://baghira.han.de/~jum/LimeWire.html |
That was quick. I just popped back to say that I removed all trace of the program and reinstalled it from scratch. Now it get to the Loading Component thing before everything goes south. I'll try what you suggested. |
