Limewire and iTunes 4.5 Like an idiot, I accidently downloaded the iTunes 4.5 upgrade. Immediately after, limewire starts refusing to open, and I get the "This application has unexpectedly quit" message. I have followed the directions in the iTunes forum to restore iTunes 4.2, and reinstalled Limewire and Quicktime 6.5.0, but limewire still won't open. I am not a computer genius, and would deeply appreciate any help y'all could offer. Thank You |
Which version of LimeWire are you using? Try using the latest beta, 3.9.9. |
I just installed the Beta and updata Java to 1.4.2, along with reapaing the permissions. |
Oh, and it didn't help. Should have put that in the reply. Sorry |
iTunes???What problem??? I've been using Limewire for awhile now and I just upgraded to the latest version..4 and now I can't get it to open. I get the "Application has unexpectedly quit..." as well when I hit the button to get rid of the pop-up to switch to Pro. I also downloaded the iTunes 4.5 app as well and have been using it. I did, however have a connection on Limewire 4 the other night and when I shut down and restarted this morning, I get the message again. Any ideas on what to do? I'm running OSX 10.2.8 on a Powerbook G4 with only ISDN connection (laugh all you want, it's all I can get in my tiny village here in Japan...)Thanks ahead of time... |
Limewire & iTunes Limewire & iTunes plus Unwanteds are uploading HD I'm having considerable ease (so far) in placing Limewire uploads to my iMac iTunes iDisk system. However, I just caught LW Monitor uploading to someone else my Interarchy app and just a wee bit earlier the new Virex 7.2.1 app the intrusive process of which I seemed to have managed to abort, or the intruder completed. Now, before I build up a rhetoric against these varlets, I note I had two entries allowing permissions somewhere. The first had to do with users/something general. The second had to with with users/something general/something more narrowly appropriate to offering my iTunes music only, thru LimeWire only. Without intrusions into my Desktop or Hardrive? I'll look for these last two items, but in the meantime is anyone familiar with what I'm talking about, someone who can assist me in adjusting my LimeWire offerings to what I want? Can my use of LimeWire transmit virus into my iMac, or use my iMac as a sleepover spot that would leave me unaffected, but embed its viralself in outgoing communications with, say, Windows or Gnutella users? Yours, Earful |
Greetings You can see what folders (and subfolders) you allowed LW to share by looking at the Library Pane. Just click any folders you don't want there and choose File->Stop Sharing Folder. Cheers |
Limewire & iTunes + scary unwanted uploading Thanks for the tip, and the quickness of your reply. I have still to make myself sure I've checked in the right places, but I haven't seen on any list the apps I caught someone trying to upload: Interarchy (it wasn't functioning yet anyway), Virex (I use it daily), and a virus-update file for Virex. I did uncheck one of the two items, the first of which I can't imagine myself voluntary putting "on the block" like that. But your reply has got me started. I'm new both to my Panther OS (Mac 10.3) and to LimeWire Client 4.0.3 I may turn up another question in these regards later. In any case, thanks for the help. Yours, Albert |
