So be it: use 3.8.x available at http://www3.limewire.com/download/backup/

I still think it"a a hardware/soft problem though...

Limewire 3.8.10 won't install. My machine tells me i cant install on the hardrive? running OSX 10.3.4

Bien sûr! In the finder, go in library--receipts--and trash install limewire.pkg

Then install an old version of LW

In the interest of solving this (if it is a software fault) I'm running OSX 1.5 on a G4 with 768MB Ram. This what comes up in the console when it hangs up:
