i,ve just downloaded a .dmg file (jam pack, 22 mb) but this file can't open/install.

Can anybody help me out??

Ive had a lot of problems with that exact file. After much searching, I found out that the file is corrupt or incomplete.
I dl'd it on Acquisition and the result is the same.
I found www.bitzi.com where other users confirmed my suspicions, the file is cactus!

I found out that if the original file is compressed by stuffit and is not complete (perhaps it is part 1 of 2) then it looks complete to LW. It doesnt show as corrupt, and worse still, there SEEM to be 34 others who have had a successful dl of the same file. Unfortunately everyone has the stuffed file, and LW wont give you an error message. It looks whole and complete to LW. Until someone puts up the complete file, we all just keep copying the bad file.

Let me know if you find a decent copy of it. Im still waiting.

There should be a place where we can all discuss bad files, and there is. Its called bitzi, look it up cause its great.
