Did you try waiting for some time?
How many files do you share?

What kind of Mac do you have?

I left it on there for at least an hour at least a couple of times..... I just downloaded it so I don't have ANY shared files..... I had a version that I downloaded about 2 weeks and it worked fine up until yesterday and then it started doing the same thing only froze on the loading user interface phase so I uninstalled it and installed the new one..... and i uninstalled it and reinstalled at least 3 or four times...still no good..... I have a 12 inch ibook...and i think its a 800 mHz G3....help!

Your laptop is probably outdated and probably can't run that much. how much do you have on your hard drive? and does anything else freeze up like that?
i have a PowerBook G4 running Panther on it and Limewire works GREAT with it never froze....ever!

OR maybe it's a user error!

I even run it on a less capable machine, a 400 Mhz iBook. Works fine.
