Default Uninstalling 4.1.5 Pro Beta on OS 10.3.5?

Although I have Limewire 4.1.5 Pro Beta installed, I've lost patience with the frequent crashes and decided to go back to LimeWire 4.0.8.

However, when I attempt to install 4.0.8 over 4.1.5 I get the error: "You cannot install this software on this volume. (null)

I've tried chucking the Limewire application folder for but as I suspected, the problem doesn't go away because of residual files left on my Mac. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how to hunt down all the files so I can delete them so I can clean install Limewire Pro 4.0.8.

Just search /Library/Receipts/ for the "Install LimeWire.pkg"and delete it.

The OSX installer doesn't like to overwrite a newer pkg with an older, I gather.

Were you getting the freezes when trying to resume old downloads? If so, looks like those have been fixed, but there's lots more testing still going on.

Cheers

Thank you, stief.

I followed your instructions and 4.0.8 installed perfectly. I got an error message that it couldn't resume my old downloads but that is okay. At least I can look forward to a secure connection

To answer your question: I didn't get freezes when trying to resume old downloads. The application would quit on its own when I left the program idle for a while. Thanks again for your help!

You're welcome.

btw--if you are getting crashes and are interested in knowing more, they are logged in your Console (/Applications/Utilities). Those reports are often useful to the LW team and the opensourcers who can read them, look for bugs and write fixes to be included in the beta versions. Once proven, the fixes make it into the official releases and everyone benefits. It's another way to help out p2p style.

For example, when Jens-Uwe Mager has time, he builds in the latest changes and generously allows OS X users to try them out. I like to go back and forth among official releases and the opensource builds.
Here's the link, which is often up http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/LimeWire.html

Call it bug-scouting: the bug-hunters get the bag, but we get to do the roaming
