Two problems with 4.0.8 Hi, Here are two buggy things I've been experiencing since I upgraded to 4.0.8: Problem 1: Window goes blank for a second every so often -- maybe four or five times a session. There seem to be no lasting effects. Problem 2: When I enter a search term into the Song Title field, LW finds and displays results with the search term in either the Song Title or the Album Title. The results of such a search are basically useless. G3 Pismo Powerbook 500MHz, 256 MB, OSX 10.3.5 Any help? Dave |
for the blanking--it's related to Apple's implementaion of Java, I recall--as you note, it's not a functional problem, just disconcerting. For the problem with search terms treating words as OR requests, use the "Any Type" search with a few terms and the extension. i.e., "song title .mp3" That should give you better results, though the spammers will still send you about 60 bogus "song title.wmv" and "song title.jpg" results (you can block .jpg and .wmv results in the filter section of the prefs). cheers |
Thanks for the reply, those are reasonable suggestions, but I still am annoyed by the problems. I don't think 4.0.8 works as well as the previous version I had. Too many responses are generated by a search. If I'm looking for Guy Clark, for example, I don't want to see results with Buddy Clark, Clark Terry, Dorinda Clark Cole, etc. I know I can filter the results after the search is completed, but I feel this is a complication that didn't exist before the latest version, and one that is completely unneccessary. Searching should give me the results I want, no more, no less. Dave |
