OSX 10.3.5 / LW will not run

Hi,
I have recently updated my system to OSX10.3.5 and found that I can no longer run LW.

I have tried reinstalling it, tried deleting every limewire file (search in finder and all preference files) tried the new beta version. Checked that I am using the latest Java (1.4.2) and just about everything else but still no success.

Any ideas?

What happens when you try to open LW? What is it that suggests it no longer runs? It may well have had something to do with permissions. Run Disk Utility to repair permissions. When I updated ot 10.3.5 & updated Java I was unable to use LW 4.1.4 properly. But I happily run 4.1.5.

when I click on the LW icon it launches, goes through the startup, asks me if I want to go pro, then loads up the tip of the day. It is here that it crashes and I am asked if I want to submit a report to apple.

I have already repaired the permissions using disk utility. I have updated to Java 1.4.2 and downloaded LW 4.1.5 beta. All versions have the same result.

It all went pear shape when I updated to OSX 10.3.5.

What do you think?

What does the crash report say? If you save the report it will be saved to your HDD.

It was suggested to me quote: Safe boot should fix it--seems that the java crashes until it's been run a few times after a fresh install. Turning off TOTD and "Connect on Startup" also helps java get settled.

Thanks stief

Thanks for the help but you may need to clarify a few points. At the risk of sounding tech ignorant, what do you mean by TOTD? I have turned off the start at startup function - same.

The crash report is huge and will not paste into this window. If you don't mid I can mail it to you?

Thanks

Check out: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...6094#post96094 (safe mode) & also http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...3462#post93462 TOTD = tip of the day

See if the crash report will fit into a PM for me. Oh before you post it, see if you can edit it. Chances are, the reason it's so big is each time LW's crashed on you, it appends the same report; ie: adding the new report at the end of the previous one. Take the most recent part. At the beginning of each report will be ********** Host Name: & new date & time, etc.
An edited crash report may well fit in here actually. Since you're not registered I'm not sure if you're able to send pm's.

No connection at all!

I've seen a similar problem with 4.0.8 PRO

I'm up to date on all my system updates (10.3.5 on a new 20" G5 iMac) and Limewire is DEAD.

I've sent email to PRO support and get NOTHING back...exactly why did I upgrade if the support is so bad?

Turned off tips, connect on startup...still no connection.

Is this a java problem? What do I do??

HELP anyone!

As suggested earlier, do a Safe start (holding down the shift key) & use disk utility from your utilities folder to repair permissions. You can also try LW beta Pro 4.1.7 released just yesterday. You can dwnld it from your LW dwnld page after logging in (it's at bottom of your personal page.) Improvements can be seen here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=29245 It is supposed to be able to connect more easily & has pause dwnld option, plus more.

It may take a couple of restarts & uses of net before java settles down. With the last java update my LW 4.1.4 stopped working properly.

I've heard before that LW support are sometimes slow to respond.

still no connection cont.

Can't do a safe mode boot since I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse...in safe mode, they are not recognized...

Did a permissions repair...no changes found.

Can't find my "download" page anywhere! What obvious thing am I not doing? I'll be happy to try the beta, because at this point...4.0.8 is useless to me.

HELP!

YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS, (getting sentimental about a song) you need to remember what email you registered under & then enter the folloing login: http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...pro_lookup.jsp You'll find the beta Pro at the bottom of the dwnld page. If you still have probs, PM me! ok! Perhaps I can find another solution. Perhaps not as good but still.
