Perhaps. First, can you check a couple of benchmarks? 1. Go to http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest and try one of their speed tests. This will tell you your regular Internet connection speed. 2. How do you connect to the internet (equipment like hubs and routers, home ISP/school LAN, etc) 3. In your LimeWire, go to Preferences->Bug Reports->sample bug report and look for "received incoming this session=True (or false). You can email or message me the bug report if you like, since it's too cumbersome to post it here. 4. What happens when you run Jaguar's System Preferences->Software update? cheers |

Got your email, and your setup looks pretty good (ultrapeer works well). There are a couple of things you can still do. -check that your upload bandwidth is less than 90KB/s (this limits uploads overloading your setup). -turn on Partial File Sharing (this should help when downloading from many sources) -run a safe boot (restart the machine holding down the shift key), run Disk Utility's "repair permissions", and restart normally. Ask/or search the forums for more info/links on this step. Run LW and test the magnet download again. If no change, then -update to the latest beta version (4.1.5) from the link on the bottom of your Pro page (assuming it is still active). If it isn't, just use the regular free version, or the latest open source build from http://www.mager.org/LimeWire/LimeWire.html Better yet, help out the devs and renew the Pro. You show Java version 1.4.1_01 from Apple Computer, Inc, which I guess is the latest for Jag (1.4.2_05 needs OS 10.3.3). Is Panther an option for you? |

I hate to suggest this, but looks like a clean install is the last option. You should be getting far better speeds. Before searching your hard drive and deleting all LimeWire files, there is another option. Create a new user in System Preferences, Accounts (with Admin Privileges), and install LW there. It will be just like installing on a almost new hard drive. Try the download speeds from that account. If there is no difference, the problem is either in your system or upstream of you. (Once done, you can log back into your usual account and delete the one you had just created.) |

ok, so I set up a new user and restarted. Downloaded a fresh new copy of LW from the LW website at an average speed of 60K. Installed it and ran it. Tried downloading from Magnetmix but download speeds never exceeded 1K. I'm completely lost now. I installed OS X Jag from the original CD. Download speeds from the internet are fine. It must be something with LW ! Aaaarrrrggggghhhhh |
