John Whyle is flying high
Default Auto D/L function

A couple o' questions;

How often [every minute?] does LW check for available files once listed for d/l?

What exactly does "need more sources" and "waiting for busy hosts", mean? I get the gist, obviously, but in depth, no.

Thanks,

John

In short, LW doesn't check for available files (especially if you get the awaiting sources status). You have to look for the files themselves.
Reason for this is that if it did, the number of autosearches issued from all the LW in the world would flood the network and would result in it getting slowed down to snail-speed.

Need more sources is just that: a download needs more sources in order to proceed. I suggest running a search for the exact filename of the download and immediately after clicking the search button, also clicking the Find more sources needed: this can help LW detect new sources.

Waiting for busy hosts can occur when you aren' t downloading from many hosts (say 1 or 2) and the hosts that you are connected to put your download on hold for awhile because they are too busy uploading to others or downloading (the latter depends on the type of connection) or whatever. If you wait a while, the download should begin anew when the host "unbusies". Again, launching a search for the same filename might result in LW picking up new sources for downoad, thus unblocking the file from that status.

A well caliberated LW can almost instantly start to continue dwnlding incomplete files. Particularly if LW is given a chance to settle down a bit. I've left LW on for several hrs 'without' doing a single search & dwnlded several files. However, we're not always so lucky. And as Murasame said, we need to manually search for sources. And there's also those days we need to 'baby-sit' LW to continually help the process along.
