![]() Corrupted MP3 files (and other file tyes too) can be a pain. I'd say that out of every 50 successful files there is usual 1 that has been corrupted (in my experience). Most commonly, I've encountered a corrupt file if it has been downloaded from large multiple sources (eg. over 100 hosts sharing that file because it is VERY popular). Just one corrupt host can cause it to fail. I've found that sometimes, if you click to continue and the file completes (this is not always the case) the corrupted file is still playable (I use iTunes) but you get the odd click or some other form of distortion. Sometimes the corruption cannot be audibly heard but sometimes it might not play at all (click play and it jumps to the end of the song). If you have a very large percentage of corrupt files are you trying repeatedly for these same files? Try selecting those tracks that have a different bitrate or file size to ensure you are not selecting the same file from a different host. |

![]() That's what the verifying does: after dld has finished, it verifies the dlded file to see if a corruption has occured during the transfer. If it detects one, it will try to connect to hosts in order to download and correct the corrupted part of the data. It will do this up to 6 (is that right?) times. After that, if the corruption has still not been corrected, it will keep the data as it is but notify the user. As Engel has pointed out, corruptions can cause various types of playback glitches: pops, ticks... In the worst cases, it will cause the player to read the corruption as a stop point and prompt it to stop playback (I had one of these. Incredibly annoying little *******.). In the case of videos, it can also cause the image to go weird for awhile or to just stop, while the soundtrack still plays... weird stuff...
