Latest won't work on OSX 10.3.5

Sinec I installed the latest security upgrade from Apple I can't get Limewire to work. I start Limewire but before I get anything it simply says:
"The application quit unexpectedly..do you want to send a report to Apple".

I downloaded the latest Limewire and still no joy. I enabled and disabled port 3689 with no luck on my firewall. Any help appreciated. Aloha

Try the things suggested in the following threads starting with the 1st one: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...6094#post96094 (permissions)

nope

Sorry I should have said that I tried all the previous remedies suggested:

permissions

fsck

downloaded the latest Java version

and I still get to the "Loading user interface" and then it disappears. This is on a Mac G4 with 256MB mem running OSX 10.3.5 with the latest security patches from Apple.

Thanx for any help!!!!

Additionally....

installed BSD package and my console generates no errors. I checked most of the previous notes but I still can't get LW to run past "Loading user interface.."

Thanx for any help...

What the hell is fsck? A clean install? If it isn't, have you tried that (a clean install I mean)?
Also, try deleting the LW preferences: it's a folder located in the Library of the Home directory in the Finder. Just open a new Finder window by pressing Cmd-N on your keyboard and enter the Library, then the Preferences folder and find and delete the Limewire folder in there.

fsck=file system check and repair. It's one of the routines that happen when you start in "Safe Boot" mode.

tried all that

As I said I tried all the patches fixes to such a point that I had to re-install 10.3 and start upgrading back to 10.3.5. I deleted all the LW I could find but have not downloaded and reinstalled it yet. I got tired of running stuff on my PC that required constant nursing - wasn't expecting this from the Mac....painful

Well it's certainly not normal! Considering the no. of mac users out there who use LW, there's relatively not many probs concerned. Certainly not of this nature! Did yo try the beta?

Was't meant as a rage....

was just venting ...

Yes I tried the latest. But since I had to reset my entire system back and just got it to where it was I haven't downloaded it again. Will try again and post results. Thanx,
greg
