Default OSX Bug

i have been trying to deal with what i tihink is a bug tonight-
what it does is move around my shared folders' names, mix them all up and put my files into different folders. the whole program is running really slow and freezing. all the files are in red, and are not being shared on the network. i went through my recent files from today and deleted them, hoping it hadn't spread to all my files. i totally erased limewire and re-downloaded it again. now what i am left with is all my files are in red, and are not being shared on the network, but it seems as though my files are slowly being re-established, and shared. also, whenever i click on one of my folders it automatically thinks i am trying to change the name of the folder, and a pop up says that i can't do it.
so, any advice? is this a known bug?
is there anyway to avoid deleting all my files?
thanks in advance for any help.
missy
