Encountering problems when downloading dvds

In the previous days I was downloading various dvds and on a particular time, all of them stopped at a time (example 4 min). They are still being downloaded but when I open them to see them on the vlc, they are always stopping in the same part although the percentage rate increase. Pls can you tell me what is the problem? I am using limewire on 4.0.8 on Mac OS X.

Just wait for them to finish dlding or do the more annoying alternative and change the default player of these players into VLC or Mplayer OS X. Both should play fine.

Should I change the defaults of the limewire or of the computer system. I tried to find out both of them but I didn't managed. Pls can you tell me from where? Thanks a lot for helping me.

Control-Click onto any of those files & choose Open with ... then choose your app. This wil set the defulat app for openng those particulr type of files. Personally I have QT open those that are avi, mpg, etc., & VLC open those that are wmc, etc.

Don't forget to click the "Apply to all" button after selecting the app.

Quick has better (more direct) controls than VLC but I still use it only to play the .mov format. The rest is for VLC (and sometimes Mplayer for some .ogm that don't have subtitles or multiple audio)

I changed the default of the dvd but it is still the same problem. I am using the vlc beacuse the quick time is not opening them. All dvds. As soon as I open them in Quicktime a warring message pop up stating various problems such as the quiktime doesn't installed the right plugins, and that the required compression could not be found.

I have no problems playing mpeg2 b/c I have QT Pro which came as part of another softw package. But the QT MPeg2 playback plug-in is a separate commercial product. By the way have you turned all your QT plug-ins on. Go to System Prefs>QT>Click Plug-in Tab & at bottom press MIME Settings. Tick all options.

So for mpeg2 movies it looks as though you're stuck with either vlc or mplayer.

Oh I just thought. It might be wise to get yourself some xtra plug-ins for QT. For DivX go to http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/ For 3ivx go to http://www.3ivx.com/ & go to dwnld page & look on top right of page. I should also have mentioned Xvid which you'll find at the divx site I gave you.
