Default Limewire deleted my desktop files

Hello,

I can't find these files in my trash, or anywhere else on my computer. I had deleted the files from the Limewire library and now they're completely gone. How can I get them back?

If you did it within OSX I wouldn't worry too much. Try quitting the Finder & re-opening it. All those files do is record the positions, locations & settings of files, etc. Else restart.

Default still gone

I restarted my computer and the files are still missing. What's weird is that they didn't even go into the trash. When I try to find them in Word, the prompt says "Word was unable to find X document. Would you like to try locating it yourself?"

When I deleted the files from the library, I watched them disappear from my desktop screen. I don't know if that detail helps you or not. The file folders on my desktop appear to be okay, but the lose files are completely gone from my computer, as far as I can tell.

As I suggested I wouldn't wory about it too much if it doesn't show any immediate FX. They probably rebuild themselves.

But just be 'very' careful what you do delete by any means that belongs to the osx system. Otherwise you might be in for some nasty surprises.

Default Are we on the same page?

The files that got zipped up are my school assignments for tomorrow. They were documents completely unrelated to anything that Limewire should have touched. If they're rebuilding themselves, how will I know where to find them? I fear this might be one of the nasty surprises that you're talking about. If there are other, similar nasty surprises in store for me, I'm going to disconnect the software immediately.

Default And about immediate effects ...

How much more immediate can it get to one second have a file on your desktop, and the next second not? Have you got any suggestions at all about where to look on my computer for these lost documents? I've tried the trash, opening the program, looking at the hard drive, and restarting the computer. Nothing.

Start from your startup disk. Repair disk & permissions (using Disk Utility) & things should be ok. As I said you should never be careless about deleting files. My partner deleted an entire photo shoot by accident a couple of weeks ago. I'll never let her forget it har har har lol

If worse comes to worst! If you have DiskWarrior you can (often but not always as above) fix these types of things up. Likewise with Norton Utilities (they are different.)
